Carrie

I finally have my first style feature on Sex & the City! The first person I looked at was Carrie of course. She's the main character (and the narrator) on the show, so I thought her style should definitely be featured first. Carrie's style is very ecclectic. One day she could look completely classy and chic, the next she could look rather wild in more avant garde clothing, and the next she could look more like a bum than a well-known columnist. Carrie mixes thrift store finds with $500 Manolo Blahniks and luxe bags with "questionable" outfits. Her style was the most hard to pin down since it's so ecclectic and, well, a bit random. Even in her wedding dress she's still pushing the boundaries of fashion! Just check out her veil! Here are just a few examples of Carrie's style:

Because Carrie's style is so all over the place, it was difficult to nail down specific pieces that were reminiscent of Carrie, without being too wild for everyday wear. Carrie's style is all about mixing it up. Here are just a few pieces inspired by the outfits above that you can either wear separately, or, if you're truly daring, start mixing together in true Carrie fashion!

1. Vintage Bloom Dress - Forever 21, $36
2. Feather Veil Headband - Forever 21, $5.80
3. Isadora Black Zip Sandal - Payless, $26.99
4. Large orange bag - Chic Eve, $44.99
5. Mesh petal beret - Papaya, $6.99

Sex and the City 2

So last night I went to the midnight showing of “Sex and the City 2” at our new theater down in Fredericksburg. I couldn’t believe how dressed up all the girls in the theater were! One group of girls actually dressed up as the four main characters. The girl who was dressed up as Carrie looked just like her, but I can’t imagine wearing cocktail dresses and stilettos to the movie! The movie itself was decent, although I thought the first movie was better. Some parts of the new movie seemed a little random and out of place. However, I loved the return of Aiden!! I don’t want to give too much away, but I would definitely recommend that anyone who followed the show check out the movie! Even if you’re not a Sex and the City fan, the clothes in the movie are absolutely stunning – just what you’d expect from these four ladies! In honor of the movie, I’ve put together a collection of clothes inspired by the characters. Stay tuned for fashion inspired by Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda!

Wishlist on a budget!

Hey guys! So I realize that all of the items on my last wish list were a little pricey. Therefore, I've listed a few of my favorite items below that are better suited for people on a limited budget like me :-).

1. Decadent Floral Dress – Forever 21, $19.80
2. Rockstar jelly stone sandals – Payless, on sale for $12.99
3. Big Pearl Chain necklace – Papaya, $7.99
4. Wide Cherry-Blossoms Scarf – Papaya, $7.99

I love this much cheaper version of a sweetheart neckline, especially with the floral print! I'm actually a huge fan of Payless as well - their shoes are really inexpensive, and are actually pretty good quality! I also love the simple but sweet necklace, along with the beautiful scarf.

What's your favorite item?

"Letters to Juliet"

“Letters to Juliet” is the story of one girl’s discovery of a letter in Verona, the home of Romeo and Juliet, and the adventure that unfolds afterword. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) discovers a letter written more than 50 years ago by a woman named Claire seeking Juliet’s advice. She is so inspired by the letter that she writes back to the woman, prompting the two of them (along with the woman’s grandson, Charlie) to search for Claire’s long-lost love. The movie is definitely the ultimate chick-flick – predictable and somewhat cheesy, yet still very sweet and romantic. Amanda Seyfried is charming as the very romantic Sophie, while Christopher Egan, who plays Charlie, adds some humor to a movie that may have otherwise been just a little TOO cheesy. This movie will definitely inspire some trips to Italy, with its beautiful setting and scenery. “Letters to Juliet” is definitely the kind of movie that will make you go “Awwww” and want to cuddle up with your significant other. Ladies, drag your boyfriends if you can, but I should warn you - they probably won’t enjoy it much if they’re anything like mine. Still, this is definitely one of those movies you’ll enjoy more with your significant other than you would with your girlfriends (even if they’d be more willing to come along!) Watch the preview here.

Tell me, do you plan on seeing the movie? And if you’ve already seen it, what’d you think?

"Wishlist"

Ask any of my family or friends, and they'll tell you that two of the things I'm most passionate about are fashion and clothes. I love reading fashion blogs, and always seem to have a "wishlist" of items I want. Here are just a few of the things currently on my list:

1. “Wind Catcher” dress from Anthropologie, $168.00

2. “Olga” headband from Love, Taza Shop, $41.00

3. “Chainge” sandal from Steve Madden, $69.95

4. “Gift of Gleam” Cuff from Anthropologie, $88.00

I love this dress, especially its sweetheart neckline. I've been seeing sweetheart dresses all over the place this summer, and this is one of my favorites. The headband comes from the author of one of my favorite blogs, RockstarDiaries. I'm a huge fan of Steve Madden, and I love how unique yet cute this bracelet is. Plus, all these items would look fabulous together!!
What's on your wishlist right now?

First Day of Work

Today, I had my first official day of work! This summer I have an internship with Fundraising Initiatives (FI), a private company that helps non-profits raise money. Although they work with several different charities, the one I work with is ActionAid, a group that works to alleviate poverty in more than 50 countries. Although a lot of people with FI do door-to-door fundraising, I work at Potomac Mills (a nearby mall) at a kiosk. I'll be honest, it can be kind of frustrating when it seems like everyone is saying "no." I had one woman tell me she wasn't "in the market." I guess she didn't realize we're a charity! However, it felt so amazing when someone actually stopped to talk to us, especially when that conversation resulted in them helping out. I helped ActionAid get two donations today!! My favorite part of the day? After one woman declined to help out, her daughter, who couldn;t have been more than 8, told me she wanted to help and started pulling out dollar bills out of her tiny purse. My heart just melted. She was so cute! Kids are absolutely incredible.

Love List

I thought it might be nice to start out with some of the things I love right now. After all, it's the little things in life that really matter, right?

1. Having a tv in my room at home for the first time. It's so relaxing to just relax in bed watching "The Office" after a long day

2. The fact that the new "Sex & the City" movie comes out next week!

2. My sister's birthday cake. I made her a cake yesterday that included nutella and cool whip, and am enjoying a very delicious slice right now :-)

4. This skirt that I bought at Kohl's on Sunday. I can't wait for the weather to be nice enough to wear it!!

5. Finally getting to spend some time with the family now that I'm home!

Passion de Vivre

Passion de Vivre: Passion to live. What a beautiful sentiment! With summer fast approaching, this seemed like the perfect time to start my blog about this incredible idea. This blog centers around sharing the the myriad of things that make me passionate about life and bring me joy, in the hopes that those same things can bring joy to you.

Summer has always been my favorite season. I love the lazy days spent with friends, my boyfriend, and my family. In the words of Henry James:
"Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language."

Here's to beautiful, sunny days, full of all the things that bring you joy in life :-).
